Hello postdocs,
We are excited to announce the ratification of our new contract with 97.35% approval from 113 voting members. Together we fought hard and remained strong in the face of a challenging negotiation. Your bargaining team thanks all the committed members who helped build a strong union. Postdocs overwhelmingly approved the pay increases and long overdue protections granted by this agreement, despite not achieving all the ambitious changes we set out for. We get to enjoy our first ever union contract now and continue on to fight another day to make OHSU an even better place for research.
Now that our contract is ratified you get the following:
Terminations must follow just cause with documented progressive steps of discipline
More time off, including 10 career development days
One-of-a-kind article for internationals that covers visa fees, commitment to requesting maximum visa durations, improvements for filing tax treaties and an additional 10 paid days off for renewing visas.
New minimum pay scales above the NIH minimums. Including another 6% increase this year that will take effect no later than October 11, 2024:
A $2000 one-time lump sum payment by October 11, 2024.
