Following our successful strike vote, with 87.5% voting to authorize a strike, we met with OHSU on July 31st to discuss their last best and final offer. Seeing ZERO progress from that meeting, ahead of our last mediation session today, your bargaining team has provided OHSU the necessary 10-day notice.
OHSU can avert a strike if they come to our mediation session today, prepared with an acceptable wage increase, annual cost of living adjustments, and W2s for all.
In getting ready to go on strike, we have a permit for a multi-week strike, prepared tens of thousands of dollars in our strike support fund, and have developed relationships with powerful union and political leaders who have signed onto a solidarity statement for postdocs.
We understand that going on strike is a hardship, but it is a temporary one to get what we deserve. We must take this time to reflect on our value and our needs if we want to continue producing great science. We ask you prepare the following for a likely strike:
- Fill out this pre-strike survey so we can prepare for food and logistics
- Consider deferring any bill payments you can.
- Sign up for union membership for eligibility to our strike fund.
- Read our updated FAQ
Please keep in mind
- It is OHSU’s responsibility to track strike participation and withholding pay. You are not obligated to answer if asked about participating in the strike.
- A strike is a legally protected activity and it is your responsibility to report any unlawful activity from faculty or administration discouraging your participation to us. [email protected].
